The Christmas Race, an iconic event in the Beirut Marathon Association's sports calendar, will take place on Sunday, December 15th, to support children with cancer. This race, set in the beautiful city of Jounieh, will start and finish at the Fouad Chehab Sports Complex. The goal is not only to promote physical activity throughout Lebanon, but also to support the fight against pediatric cancer, a cause particularly close to the association’s heart.

The organizers have chosen Jounieh for its exceptional geographical and environmental setting, as well as to diversify sporting events in various Lebanese regions.

Supporting Children with Cancer

The race will be marked by solidarity with children battling cancer in Lebanon. These young fighters face the disease every day with courage. Through this event, the Beirut Marathon Association aims to bring a smile to these children during the Christmas season, a symbol of sharing and solidarity. The initiative seeks to strengthen the association's mission, which has been working for several years to improve the lives of patients and raise funds to finance treatments.

Race Program

The day’s program will begin at 7:00 AM with a competitive 5 km race, followed by a 3 km fun run at 7:45 AM, open to those seeking a more relaxed experience. Both races will start and finish at the Fouad Chehab Sports Complex. The winners of each category will receive their awards at a ceremony scheduled for 8:30 AM.

Registration and Practical Information

Registrations are open on the official Beirut Marathon Association platform, beirutmarathon.org, until December 10, 2024. Bib numbers will be distributed from December 11 to 14, between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM, at the association's office in the BDD district of Beirut.

The Christmas Race is open to participants of all ages, from 8 to 75 years and older, allowing everyone—young and old—to take part in this noble cause.

Gifts for Sick Children

After the race, the Beirut Marathon Association will offer 200 gifts to children hospitalized at cancer treatment centers, including the Children’s Cancer Center and Chance. These gifts will be funded by a portion of the race registration fees and donations from the Lebanese community. An additional collection of 1,000 gifts is also ongoing and can be dropped off at the association’s offices for later distribution.

A Charitable and Sporting Christmas

This sporting event will promote running and well-being and provide a unique opportunity to support children in Lebanon fighting cancer. The Beirut Marathon Association continues to build bridges between sports and solidarity, reminding us that Christmas is a time to come together and help each other.
