On Wednesday, Fadi al-Hassan, the director of Rafic Hariri International Airport (BIA) in Beirut, revealed that several airlines have started operating flights to the city again.
He clarified in an interview with LBCI that it was challenging to quickly resume flights to Beirut because the majority of the airlines that had halted their service had moved their fleets to other locations.
With the exception of one German airline, which declared that it will start operating again on December 9, he added that no formal confirmation had been provided regarding when European airlines would start operating again to and from BIA.
According to Al Hassan, outward passenger movements are still extremely low (between 2,000 and 2,500 passengers per day) in the wake of the ceasefire. As for arrivals, he assured us that they were increasing.
