Hamas has released a propaganda video featuring Edan Alexander, a 20-year-old hostage, the first such video in several months.
The three-and-a-half-minute video is undated, but Alexander states he has been in captivity for over 420 days, suggesting the footage was filmed this week if accurate.
Alexander, a US citizen and soldier, was stationed near the Gaza Strip on October 7 when he was captured by Hamas. Appearing visibly frail, Alexander identifies himself in the video and appeals to the Israeli government to secure his release. He also addresses the incoming US administration in English, urging them to intervene on his behalf.
Hamas has previously released similar videos of hostages, which Israel condemns as psychological warfare. This latest release comes after a prolonged hiatus from such broadcasts.
