The Caretaker Minister of Interior and Municipalities Judge Bassam Mawlawi, in efforts with Beirut Governor Judge Marwan Abboud and the Offrejoie Association, relocated displaced people living in tents on the Beirut Corniche to a shelter center in the Karantina area.

In a statement, The Disaster and Crisis Management Room in Beirut Governorate, said that the shelter “houses more than 400 displaced individuals.”

“The Beirut City Guard Regiment, in coordination with the Internal Security Forces, oversaw the transfer process from the Corniche to the aforementioned shelter center,” the statement read. “The second phase, which aims to relocate the remaining displaced people on the Corniche to another shelter center currently being prepared based on a statistical database previously compiled for displaced families in public spaces, will be completed within a few days.”
