Following claims made by Avichay Adraee, the Arabic-speaking spokesperson for Israel, that there is a site containing “hundreds of millions of dollars in gold and cash” belonging to Hezbollah located in a bunker beneath Sahel Hospital in the southern suburbs of Beirut. In response, the Hezbollah communication department organized a media tour, on site, on Tuesday. Adraee stated that he intends to declassify intelligence regarding this site, which he claims has not been attacked.

During the media visit, Adraee reposted a message on X saying: “To the journalists currently participating in the media tour inside Sahel_Hospital in Haret Hreik: Please proceed to the designated locations we have outlined and do not waste your time on theatrics within the medical departments. Go down to Hezbollah's private shelter. Address: Dargam Street, Building No. 7, Airport Road, Haret Hreik. The entry and exit points are located in the Ahmadieh Building and the Sahel Center Building. Please go there.”

On Monday evening, Adraee claimed that the underground bunker features “exit and entry tunnel shafts, rooms, beds, and infrastructure designed for long-term stays, as well as the capability to conduct combat operations from underground.”

He specified that the hospital is located on Dargam Street, near Airport Road in Haret Hreik, with the reported entry and exit points to the bunker situated within the Ahmadieh Building and the Sahel Center Building.

Adraee further stated, “The air force is monitoring the compound, but we will not target the hospital itself.” He alleged that “this money is being used to finance Hezbollah’s terrorist activities” and urged “the Lebanese government, Lebanese authorities, and international organizations to recover the stolen funds for the citizens of Lebanon and prevent Hezbollah from utilizing them for terrorist purposes.”

In response to these claims, the Israeli Army announced plans to strike areas in the southern suburbs of Beirut within the coming hours. Following this announcement, the hospital began evacuating its patients, according to its director, Fadi Alameh, who is also a lawmaker from the Amal Movement. Alameh disputed the Israeli assertions and invited the Lebanese Army and other relevant institutions to inspect the site.
