On Monday morning, the Israeli army raided the village of Aita al-Shaab in southern Lebanon.

Four tanks crossed the border along Rmeish and made their way through the hills towards Aita al-Shaab. The pan-Arab channel al-Jazeera showed images of the tanks in the village.

The National News Agency (ANI) reported that houses had been dynamited in Aita al-Shaab, before announcing that “violent fighting” was underway late this morning between Israeli soldiers on the Aita al-Shaab-Qawzah-Ramya axis. It was not clear whether the tanks remained or retreated towards the border.

This is the second incursion in this sector. A few days ago, two remote-controlled, unmanned Israeli tanks also entered Aita al-Shaab in what appeared to be a reconnaissance mission.
