It was only last night that the UNIFIL’s command managed to deliver water and supplies to its soldiers stationed in Mays al-Jabal, south of Lebanon.
The peacekeepers had not received provisions for several weeks, and by Saturday, their water supply had run out, according to the multinational peacekeeping force's Telegram account, which noted that Blue Helmets typically have enough provisions for at least 10 days.
"Reaching the posts near the Blue Line (the UN-established border between Lebanon and Israel) has been very difficult recently. While most of them have enough food and water for more than ten days, we have not been able to deliver anything to the Mays al-Jabal post since September 29," the UNIFIL statement reads.
The text mentioned delays in clearing roads that were "blocked due to intense fighting and Israeli warnings against Hezbollah's military activities."
Like UNIFIL, many families who chose not to leave their villages near the border are also facing difficulties in obtaining supplies.
In areas that are relatively spared from Israeli raids, NGOs are striving to deliver essential goods to the residents.
