On the night of October 10, 2024, Israeli airstrikes reportedly targeted Hezbollah's security chief, Wafiq Safa, in Beirut.

This attack, which primarily affected the al-Nuwairi and al-Basta areas, marked the third such strike on central Beirut since the onset of the Israel-Hezbollah conflict.

It was also the deadliest, resulting in 22 fatalities and approximately 120 injuries, with many individuals still trapped in the rubble.

Three apartments were specifically targeted, leading to the significant destruction of buildings and homes.

Residents expressed their fear and shock at the scene of the attack.

“It was a truly terrifying sight,” said one resident.

“We were scared,” remarked another, highlighting the distress experienced by those in the area.

Despite the intended target, the broader consequences affected the surrounding community, raising concerns about the ongoing harm and losses experienced.
