According to the Israeli media outlet Haaretz, Tel Aviv is promoting the creation of a multinational force to guarantee humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant has mentioned this initiative several times in recent days, according to Haaretz. His plan is to build the force around members from friendly Arab countries. Mr. Gallant discussed the idea with senior American officials during his visit to Washington last week.

This force would defend, for a limited time, the port that the US government is building on the Gaza coast, as well as humanitarian aid convoys, says Haaretz.

These revelations come a day after the publication of a report by the American media outlet Politico, according to which the American administration officials have begun preliminary discussions on the post-war situation in Gaza with some of their partners, including Israel.

Among the issues discussed was the possibility of the US Defense Department helping to finance a "multinational force or a Palestinian peacekeeping team", according to Politico.

However, none of the options envisaged would involve the presence of American troops on the ground. Instead, the fund would be used to finance the needs of a security force, alongside funds from other countries.
