The Lebanese national swimming team delegation returned home from the 50-meter World Swimming Championships in the Qatari capital, Doha. The delegation included federation secretary Farid Abi Raad (head of delegation), coach Elie Boutros and players Munzer Kabbara, Ahmad Safiya, Rebecca Mezher and Lana Hijazi. During the event, two Lebanese national records were broken, one by Mounzer Kabbara and the other by Rebecca Mezher, as follows:
Munzer Kabbara – 18 years and over (Club Mont La Salle):
- 100-meter breaststroke: 1:04.54 minute (new record, previously 1:04.83 by swimmer Wael Koubrousli), placing 56th out of 79 participants.
- 200-meter individual medley: 2:03.31 minutes, ranking 23rd out of 42 participants.
Ahmad Safiya – 18 years and over (Club Al Jazeera):
- 100-meter backstroke: 58.32 seconds, ranking 43rd out of 53 participants.
- 200-meter backstroke: 2:08.37 minutes, ranking 31st out of 35 participants.
Rebecca Mezher – 18 years and over (Club Mtayleb) :
- 100-meter freestyle: 58.90 seconds (new record, previously 58.99 seconds by the same swimmer), ranking 37th out of 88 participants.
- 100-meter butterfly: 1:05.57 minutes, ranking 38th out of 46 participants.
Lana Hijazi – 16-17 years old (Club Al Najah):
- 200-meter freestyle: 2:11.95 minutes, ranking 44th out of 50 participants.
- 800-meter freestyle: 9:33.90 minutes, ranking 25th out of 25 participants.
Munzer Kabbara – 18 years and over (Club Mont La Salle):
- 100-meter breaststroke: 1:04.54 minute (new record, previously 1:04.83 by swimmer Wael Koubrousli), placing 56th out of 79 participants.
