Building Collapses in Choueifat
A residential building in Choueifat collapsed on Monday night, with preliminary reports indicating several injured.

The six-storey building is located near the municipality and is known as the Ibrahim al-Suqy Building, housing 30 residents, most of whom are Syrian nationals.

Preliminary information suggests that there are approximately 17 individuals of Syrian nationality trapped under the rubble, but rescue operations are challenging due to the dangerous condition of the adjacent building, whose foundations have been compromised.

The Civil Defense pulled out four bodies from under the rubble and was able to rescue two injured ladies.

Reports claim the building collapsed due to a side of a soil hill collapsing onto the building.

Following its collapse, the building adjacent to it has been ordered to evacuate.

Rescue teams and ambulances from the Islamic Message Association in al-Abbas City headed to the site of the collapse.

This is the second time in a week that a building has collapsed in the area.

It's worth noting that the municipality has issued several warnings to evacuate the building, both old and new, but there was no response.

At the same time, security forces evacuated residents of two buildings in Shahrabil in Saida, as they were at risk of collapsing due to soil erosion.
