Lebanese skier Kiana Sakkal will kick off the Lebanese delegation's competitions at the fourth edition of the Youth Olympic Winter Games, currently being held in Gangwon, South Korea, on Tuesday, January 23. She will take part in the Alpine skiing event (giant slalom). In this context, coach Sleiman Keyrouz revealed that all the players have been engaged in an intensive training program since their arrival in South Korea and affirmed they are ready for the competition. He pointed out that player Sakkal, born in 2006, is ready for the task. This is her first participation in an Olympic event, for which her experience, skill and good results in numerous international competitions in France and Italy have prepared her.
Coach Keyrouz pointed out that Sakkal is taking part in the Games alongside her teammates based on ranking and qualification through points, which is a first in the history of sport in Lebanon, representing a positive and remarkable development. On a national level, Sakkal is considered one of the best players in her age category, 14-16, with several achievements to her name.
