Deputy Speaker of Parliament Elias Bou Saab expressed his "fervent hope that the visit of US envoy Amos Hochstein, normally scheduled for tomorrow (Thursday) in Lebanon, will contribute to taking a step towards stability."
Bou Saab made these remarks on Wednesday at the end of his visit to Ain al-Tineh, where he met with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri to update him on "the atmosphere of his meeting with American envoy Amos Hochstein on Monday, January 8 in Rome."
Bou Saab also pointed out that "war will not bring Israeli settlers back to their settlements but will drive them away and prolong the issue for another year," defending the solution as "not war, but a diplomatic effort."
