The Head of the Maronite Church, Patriarch Bechara Rai, hlighted on Saturday the necessity of adhering to Resolution 1701 and preventing Lebanon from getting involved in the war between Israel and Gaza.
He emphasized that the “decision of war and peace solely rests on the Lebanese Government.”
“We do not want Lebanon and its people to bear the burden of other nations and peoples,” he added.
In his Epiphany sermon, Patriarch Rai assured that Lebanon will "continue to advocate for the Palestinian people's right to return to their land, as this approach is more effective than war, hunger, and deprivation." He also called for "the war and destruction to end in order to find solutions through diplomatic means."
