Lebanese Navy Rescues Illegal Migrants
The Lebanese naval forces carried out a rescue mission on Tuesday, successfully saving illegal Syrian migrants from a boat bound for Cyprus.

Fifty-four people, including children, were on board the makeshift boat, which was about to sink off the coast of northern Lebanon when it broke down. The migrants managed to contact the authorities to ask for help. Both the Civil Defense Maritime Rescue Unit and the Navy rushed to the scene and rescued all those on board. Once on shore, Lebanese Red Cross teams provided first aid.

Lebanon has been experiencing a severe economic crisis since 2019, and attempts to emigrate illegally have been on the rise since then.
