According to multiple sources, the Banque du Liban (BDL) has reportedly decided to raise the rate of the Sayrafa platform from LBP 85,500 to the dollar to LBP 89,500, effective Monday. This rate had remained unchanged for several months.
Although the BDL has not yet issued an official statement, it is said to have informed banking institutions of its decision to increase the Sayrafa rate, particularly for the conversion and payment of civil servants' salaries in dollars.
Thus, the Sayrafa rate will be in line with the parallel market rate (LBP 89,500, according to the Lira rate website). The unification of the exchange rate was announced several months ago.
It is worth noting that the Sayrafa platform was established under circular 132360 on June 10, 2020, during a period of fluctuating dollar exchange rates against the Lebanese pound.
