France Deplores Israeli Strike that Killed a Lebanese Soldier
France deplored on Wednesday the Israeli strike that killed a Lebanese soldier, the first since the start of the almost daily exchange of fire on the border between Israel and Hezbollah on October 8.

France "is deeply concerned by the continuing clashes on the border between Lebanon and Israel", added the Quai d'Orsay spokeswoman in a statement, calling on "all parties" to "exercise the utmost restraint" and "for the full implementation by all concerned of UN Security Council Resolution 1701". It also "reiterated its support for the Lebanese army, the guarantor of the country's unity and stability".

The Israeli army claims not to have targeted the Lebanese armed forces, but a Hezbollah position.
